Washington Arubi reacts after completing SuperSport United move
Veteran goalminder Washington Arubi has reacted after completing a move to ambitious DStv Premiership side SuperSport United FC.
The Zimbabwean penned a one-year deal with an option to extend by another year.
He joined the club at the same time with Tanzanian defender Abdurazak Hamza who also signed a long-term contract.
The veteran goalminder, Washington Arubi, was initially linked with Sekhukhune United after parting ways with Marumo Gallants.
His arrival at SuperSport United FC intensifies competition in their club’s goalkeeping department.
Their goalkeeping department already has the highly-rated duo of Ricardo Goss and George Chigova, along with Boalefa Pule.
ARUBI IS UNFAZED BY THE COMPETITION AT SUPERSPORT UNITED
However, veteran goalminder, Washington Arubi, is unfazed and brimming with confidence ahead of the Matsatsantsa dance.
“I’m happy and ready for the new challenge. The club has ambitions, and my task is to ensure they are fulfilled despite the competition in the team,” Arubi told FARPost.
Last season, Ricardo Goss was coach Gavin Hunt’s preferred first choice ahead of Chigova and Pule.
But the arrival of the veteran goalminder Washington Arubi is likely to trigger chances looking at how he performed last season.
The new SuperSport United FC shot-stopper was a top performer at Marumo Gallants last season.
Arubi was exceptional in Gallants’ fairytale CAF Confederations sojourn where they reached the semi-finals.
And he was rewarded with the Marumo Gallants’ chairman award for his sterling efforts at the club.
In the games that they played in the league, Gallants only won five games, drew 14 and lost 11.
Washington Arubi is one of the top players that left Gallants for greener pastures following the team’s relegation.
Striker, Ranga Chivaviro has since joined Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.
Gallants’ best newcomer of the season, Lesiba Nku has joined Tshwane giants Mamelodi Sundowns.
