Yanga confirm where Chiefs fans can watch friendly match
Kaizer Chiefs are currently in Tanzania to play Young Africans in an international friendly match against Young Africans, and Amakhosi fans will be able to watch their beloved team play.
It will be an opportunity for football fans to see Chiefs play for the first time under new coach Molefi Ntseki.
The club has also made several new signings, including Given Msimango, Pule Mmodi, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Edson Castillo, Tebogo Potsane and Ranga Chivaviro.
Fans will be relieved to know they will be able to watch the game after an arrangement was made between Yanga’s broadcast partners Azam TV and SuperSport TV.
Yanga vice president Arafat Haji confirmed that Tanzania’s Azam TV and SuperSport had been made.
SUPERSPORT TV PARTNERS WITH AZAM TV
“We’re enjoying a good partnership with Azam Media. You know Tanzania is very big, and we have this facility that can only accommodate 60000 fans,” Arafat told FARPost.
“So all the fans that can come to the stadium, which we understand and believe the stadium will be fully packed. And the rest of the areas, people who can’t make it will be watching live through Azam Sports.
“With that partnership that we’re having with Azam, we’ve been able to strike a deal between Azam and SuperSport. SuperSport will be able to broadcast this game live to other countries outside Tanzania, where Azam has no reach. This is to the benefit of the people of South Africa.”
The broadcast will start at 17h40 [South African time] on SuperSport 5. Kick-off is 18h00. The game will see Amakhosi step up their preparations for the new season. Newly appointed head coach Molefi Ntseki will be looking to gauge the readiness of his charges.
In the Jangwani giants, they face a side that has been doing well in the last two seasons. Yanga won two successive trebles in the 2021/22 season and the 2022/23 season.
They also reached the final of the CAF Confederation Cup last season. However, there is a new man in charge at the club following the departure of Nassredine Nabi.
The Tunisian left after 26 months in charge of Tanzania’s biggest football club. Miguel Gamondi, a league title winner with Mamelodi Sundowns, has taken over the reins.
Gamondi will be looking to maintain the club’s dominance over their rivals Simba SC. In his arsenal, he has South African attacker Mahlatse Makudubela, who recently joined Young Africans.
The skilful Makudubela will likely get his first dance in Yanga colours on Saturday evening.
