Sundowns defender shares key element about Peter Shalulile

One of Mamelodi Sundowns’ defenders has revealed one key element about their free-scoring striker Peter Shalulile.

The Namibian gunslinger is arguably the best striker in the DStv Premiership at the moment.

For two seasons, Peter Shalulile won both the PSL Footballer of the Season and PSL Player’s Player of the Season awards.

Last season, he was the joint top goal scorer along with Cape Town City forward Khanyisa Mayo.

Peter Shalulile and Khanyisa Mayo shared the DStv Premiership Golden Boot award after finishing with 12 goals each at the end of the 2022/23 season.

The Namibian gunslinger has remained so consistent, something that has excited one of Mamelodi Sundowns’ defenders.

Brian Onyango, who often shares the same hotel room with Peter Shalulile while in camp, shared one element about the striker.

“If you share a room with this guy [Peter Shalulile], you won’t rest until at least 11 pm. It’s always working in the room, said Onyango.

“Either press-ups and sit-ups in the room or any other workouts in the room. He’s a hard worker who even pushes others hard at work.”

The Mamelodi Sundowns defender is convinced Peter Shalulile is at a level of his own when it comes to working out.

Shalulile’s rise has been so consistent from the time he joined Highlands from Tura Magic in 2015.

According to transfermarkt, the 29-year-old has played a total of 203 matches in all elite league competitions.

And he has 104 goals and 28 assists to his name, a feat that has left one of Mamelodi Sundowns’ defenders, Onyango full of praise.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how  Peter Shalulile will combine with the club’s new signings.

Mamelodi Sundowns added a number of attack-minded players, including Lesiba Nku and Junior Mendieta. They also added Lucas Ribeiro Costa and winger Tapelo Maseko to their ranks.
