Why Siphesihle Ndlovu is thriving under Gavin Hunt

SuperSport United midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu has revealed why he’s thriving and enjoying football under coach Gavin Hunt.

Ndlovu worked with Hunt last season at the club when he was on loan from Soweto giants Orlando Pirates.

After a successful loan stint, the midfield engine joined the Tshwane side on a permanent basis ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season.

The 26-year-old was one of the club’s key players last season forming a strong partnership with Grant Margeman in the middle of the park, bossing the midfield.

All-in-all, he played 22 league matches and netted one goal helping the team to a third place finish to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.

“He just gave me an opportunity and told me to do what I know, try minimise mistakes as much as I can, make sure I keep that grind and fight, have that winning mentality.

“Now I’m back to where I was playing when I was at Maritzburg [United], which is the position that I really like.”

SIPHESIHLE NDLOVU REFLECTS ON HIS FORM

Ndlovu admitted that it will be difficult for him to replicate the form he had during his days at Maritzburg United.

That’s the club where he made a name for himself and played some of his best football. Ndlovu who was aged 22 by then was named the 2017/18 PSL Young Player of the Season after great, consistent performances.

“Obviously it can never be the same, but that is still the drive for me. I need to stay as high as I can, make sure that I’m also contending.

“I just need to play there, deliver and do my job that’s what I’m about,” he added.
