Clatous Chama shares his wisdom with former Sundowns star
Simba SC veteran midfielder Clatous Chama has shared his wisdom with a former Mamelodi Sundowns start ahead of the start of the 2023/24 season.
Louis Miquissone, who had a stint with Sundowns, has rejoined Simba SC after a difficult spell with Al Ahly.
He has just been unveiled by the club ahead of the 2023/24 Tanzania Premier League season.
Chama also had a spell in North Africa, turning out for Morocco’s RS Berkane before reuniting with the Tanzania giants.
CLATOUS CHAMA ADVICE
“He has since shared some advice with his teammate as he looks to bounce back to top form,” he told FARPost.
“I feel good that he is back. It’s a good thing for the club and a good thing for him because, in the past few years, he has not been playing so much.
“Al Ahly is a big club, and whenever a good player goes to a club, he hopes for game time. I hope he works so hard and gets back to his form at Simba.
“It’s a plus, he is quality, he is good. He knows one or two things about the Tanzanian league, he knows what is required, and he knows the pressure from the fans and management
Chama also sent a warning to Simba after the club’s transfer spending spree. The midfielder, who has been one of Simba’s key players in recent years, says that the new signings will not guarantee success.
Wekundu wa Msimbazi have added Che Malone from Coton Sport FC, Aubin Kramo from ASEC Mimosas ASEC, Willy Essomba Onana from Rayon Sports FC, David Kameta from Mtibwa Sugar and Fabrice Ngoma from Al-Hilal Club. Idd Chilunda, Abdallah Hamisi and Hussein Kazi.
“The players that have been added to our squad, the quality is good, but you know how football is.
“Remember the 2019 season we had the best squad at Simba, and we lost in the Champions League, we never even went to the Group Stages.
LOFTY AMBITIONS FOR THE SEASON
“So, for me, it’s not just on paper, but the quality we’ve added we need to see it on the pitch.
“We need to see each one of us pushing. The new guys, together with the old guys, should come to the party and push for what’s best for the team. Quality should be seen on the pitch and in the team.”
According to Chama, Simba have set lofty ambitions for the season. Chief among those is wresting the league title for bitter rivals Young Africans SC.
“The first is the league because that’s the one we consider the most. Obviously, we have to look forward to CAF Champions League. “We’re always getting out after the semi-final, and we want to go further this time. We have got the Super League that we’re in for the first time.
“It’ll be nice to do well there also. I know we’re capable of this. It’s just a matter of us uniting and pushing for all those things.”
