Nange reveals what he took away from his spell at Chiefs

SuperSport United’s new signing Phathutshedzo Nange has moved on from his spell at the Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs, with a few lessons learned.

The 31-year-old recently reunited with Gavin Hunt at Matsatsantsa as he worked with the experienced coach at Chiefs and the now-defunct Bidvest Wits.

After enjoying more regular game time in his first of the two seasons at Amakhosi, Nange’s last year at the club was one to forget.

The former Stellenbosch FC midfielder featured just five times in Chiefs colours in all competitions with several injury setbacks.

NANGE OPENS UP ON KAIZER CHIEFS SPELL

Speaking to the media during the SuperSport United pre-season camp in Durban, Nange admits his injury played a huge setback while at Chiefs.

“Every player wants to play, I would say it was a setback to me [not featuring much],” he said.

“It was bad because I was not on the field much, but Injuries are part of the game. So my setback was getting an injury during the pre-season, so that let me down.

“I think the Injuries let me down a bit because I couldn’t manage to cope and cover others. We also brought in some new boys from the development of the team, so they were giving them a chance trying to rebuild,” explained Nange.

“So it’s water under the bridge for me. I had to work hard because I also feel I had to put in a lot more effort, especially after the injury.”

“I would say that I have to work hard and take my chance when I get the opportunity,” he said.

“I had to work hard because I also feel I had to put in a lot more effort, especially after the injury.”

Nange also admits the opportunity at SuperSport has presented itself for him to remind people what he is capable of.

“I think so. As you said, I have to give my best, and hopefully, I will have a great season. As an individual and as a team, we want to have a great season. So we will give our best and make sure I play well in every game.”
