Former Black Leopards keeper resurfaces in Rwanda

The most capped goalkeeper in Gambia and former Black Leopards number one Modou Jobe, has resurfaced in Rwanda.

Jobe spent the past two seasons at Lidoda Duvha in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

He was part of the Gambian national team that finished in the quarterfinals at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2021 in Cameron.

But Injuries last season saw him lose his place in the Leopards lineup to veteran keeper Jackson Mabokgwane.

Jobe has now been unveiled as a new signing by Rwanda Premier League side Musanze FC on a two-year deal. Musanze beat Coton Sport from Cameroon to the signature of the 34-year-old.

He told FARPost that his move away from the PSL was premature but he is grateful for the two years in the country.

“It was hard to leave because it has come to a time when I can say I have family there [South Africa]. I have the president and his son who gave me all the support I needed,” he said.

Jobe says his targets at the new club include winning trophies.

“The team has their targets as we speak right now, that is to try to win the FA Cup and then try to be in the top three in the league. So I already know what my challenge is. I know it won’t be easy, but collectively we can achieve more than what is expected.”
