CT Spurs add Marumo Gallants striker to their attack

DStv Premiership newcomers Cape Town Spurs have continued strengthening their squad ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season as they have added a Marumo Gallants striker Riyaaz Nell to their attack.

CT Spurs have been an active side in the market, trying to bring in players who will be useful to them. The club’s aim is to stamp its authority and stay beyond this upcoming campaign in SA’s top flight.

To add, the Cape Town outfit has been able to keep the core of their squad [youth and experience] despite interest in a number of their players from other teams.

So far, the Capetonians have acquired the services of Siyanda Msami, Luvuyo Phewa, Keagan Buchanan, Dylan Stoffels and Shaquille Abrahams.

Nell becomes the sixth player to join the Urban Warriors during the transfer window. Nell had joined Bahlabane Ba Ntwa ahead of the 2022/23 season from ABC Motsepe League side Santos FC.

The 23-year-old failed to impress at Gallants as he struggled for game time. He only made two league appearances the entire season.

“Welcome to the Urban Warriors, Riyaaz!” Spurs posted on their socials.

WHAT SHAUN BARTLETT SAID ABOUT BRINGING IN NEW SIGNINGS

At the DStv Premiership launch in Randburg, Spurs mentor Shaun Bartlett revealed that they are not yet done in the transfer market.

The former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs striker highlighted that they are aiming to sign one or two new faces to bring in balance and increase squad depth.

“I think there is probably one or two positions that we looking to reinforce and strengthen,” said Bartlett.

“But as far as the bulk of the positions and the squad is concerned, we pretty much done. There’s one or two that we need to add.”

Spurs’ first match of the season will be on the road against TS Galaxy on Sunday, 6 August. Kickoff at Mbombela Stadium is at 3 pm.
