Simba’s Clatous Chama reacts to Fiston Mayele’s Yanga exit

Simba SC midfielder Clatous Chama has sent a message to Fiston Mayele as he starts life away from Young Africans SC [Yanga].

Mayele, the most valuable player and top scorer in the Tanzanian Premier League last season, has joined Egypt’s Pyramids FC.

The Cairo-based club unveiled the talented forward on Sunday evening, ending his fruitful flirtation with Timu ya Wananchi.

FISTON MAYELE’S YANGA EXIT A BLOW

The Congolese forward has spent two seasons in Dar es Salaam with Yanga, scoring 54 goals. His ingenuity did not go unnoticed, attracting interest from North Africa and the Middle East.

However, the 28-year-old will play his football in Egypt next season after he was sold to Pyramids.

Chama believes Mayele’s departure is a big loss for Yanga and the Tanzania league. Mayele is a clinical finisher who can also create chances for his teammates. He will be looking to make his mark on the Egyptian Premier League.

“On Mayele, I know him as a player, I know he’s quality. I think it’s a loss for the team, and it’s a loss for the league,” Chama told FARPost

“But as I said, in football, we need to grow, so if he has left, he thinks that’s the right decision for his career and his family.

“So, I can only wish him well wherever he is going. I hope he gets enough game time as he was getting at Yanga.”

Mayele’s departure is a blow to Young Africans SC’s hopes of retaining their treble. Yanga won the Tanzania Premier League, the Community Shield and the Azam Cup under the tutelage of Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi.

NABI ALSO LEFT

Nabi also left at the end of the season and was replaced by former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Gamondi.

Chama is a key player at Simba and one of the most decorated players in the club’s history. He has won numerous trophies with the club, including the Tanzanian Premier League title on three occasions.

The Zambian international will be looking to help the Msimbazi giants wrest the title from their bitter rivals.
