Knox Mutizwa outlines what’s different about Arrows this season

Golden Arrows striker Knox Mutizwa has pointed out the key differences between the upcoming season and previous ones for his side.

Abafana Bes’thende ended the previous DStv Premiership campaign in the ninth position with 38 points after 30 outings. Arrows have made a couple of reinforcements in an attempt to assemble a solid team ahead of the new season.

They have signed Bradley Cross, Nhlanhla Zwane, Angelo Van Rooi, Olwethu Ncube and Teboho Motloung.

Mutizwa believes it’s a different season for them as they’ll be aiming “to achieve something” with the Durban-based club. However, he insisted winning the cup is not the mandate from the employers but a “chat among players”.

“I think scoring goals and helping my team to win something because we’re talking as players,” Mutizwa told the media during the media open day on Wednesday.

“There is an added cup [Carling Cup] this year. Scoring goals and helping my team to win something is going to make me happy come the end of the season.

“It’s not like a mandate. But we talk as a family to say, ‘guys let’s achieve something, let’s do this thing’. That’s why I’m saying as players and as a family at Golden Arrows, we know what we want, and we must achieve it this season.”

Arrows lost some crucial names at the end of the season. Devine Lunga, who was a loanee from Mamelodi Sundowns, left the club after spending the whole last season with them. The Zimbabwean left-back returned to his parent club and had a pre-season camp in the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Ntsako Makhubela, who joined them in January on loan from Orlando Pirates, also left. And as previously reported, he has been training with Moroka Swallows.
