What Steve Barker expects from Kgaogelo Sekgota
Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker has revealed what he expects from the club’s latest signing Kgaogelo Sekgota.
Sekgota joins the Cape Winelands side on a long-term deal ahead of the 2023/24 season. He parted ways with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs last week.
Stellies announced the 26-year-old’s arrival on Saturday, 5 August posting on their website and on socials.
The Capetonians have been one of the busy sides in the transfer market. Therefore, the Bafana Bafana international becomes the club’s 10th signing.
The club have already acquired the services of Thulani Mini, Prince Annor Amponsah, Oura Anicet, Salifu Colley, Genino Palace, Ismaël Touré, Basil Mphahlele, Thabo Moloisane and Oscarine Masuluke.
STEVE BARKER ON THE SIGNING OF KGAOGELO SEKGOTA
The mentor believes Sekgota is the type of player that can help the team in attack. He can score goals and create scoring opportunities for his teammates.
“Sekgota is a massive signing for us. He’s a player who we earmarked a while back to try and get into the club, so we are delighted that he has now signed with us,” Barker told the club’s media department.
“He’s an exciting attacking player who has a good pedigree, having represented his country, and who has the ability to go past players, to create opportunities for his teammates, and to score goals himself.
“We are looking for a massive impact from him. Hope to help him get his career back to where it belongs, which is right at the top end of the game.”
