Mammila warns tweeps to stop giving Mpengesi wrong ideas

Chippa United coach Morgan Mammila has sent a plea to tweeps, more especially the media, to stop giving his boss Chippa Mpengesi, reasons to fire coaches.

The administrator-turned-coach said that the Chippa United boss Mpengesi is different from other club owners and takes comments on social media regarding his coaches seriously.

Mammila was responding to a question on what his targets are for the season, considering that his boss is trigger-happy. This comes after the 0-0 draw in a DStv Premiership clash against Kaizer Chiefs at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.

Mammila himself is a regular social media participant. From time to time, the coach also mocks people on Twitter.

CHIPPA MPENGESI IS A DIFFERENT BREED

“You see one thing for sure, guys, my boss is a different one,” said Mammila. “He believes you guys [the media]. If you write on Twitter that Morgan should have won this game and all that stuff, he takes that seriously. He is a different chairman.

“So in the future, check what you write. If you say he [Morgan Mammila] must be fired, he [Chippa Mpengesi] is going to read that message. He’s unlike other chairmans,” he explained.

“He is not like other chairmans. I am sure you don’t have a number of the Stellenbosch chairman,[Johann Rupert], you don’t have. You can’t call him, you can’t call Dr [Kaizer] Motaung or Dr [Irvin] Khoza, but you guys can call Mr Mpengesi,” said the Chippa United coach.

MEDIA MAKING THE LIFE OF COACH MORGAN MAMMILA DIFFICULT?

“So you are the one who is making our lives difficult. But one thing is for sure with me, I know what I want. I am representing a black rural child out there who doesn’t think that this opportunity is not for them.

“So I am showing them that this opportunity is also for a rural black boy, he can come and do it. I am not doing it for myself, I am opening doors. For a child who is thereby Nongoma [in KZN], thereby deep rural Eastern Cape. I am giving them hope.”
