What Pablo Franco Martin is discontent with at AmaZulu FC
AmaZulu FC head coach Pablo Franco Martin has revealed what he’s discontent with at his side since taking over in the off-season.
Martin recently joined Usuthu, replacing Ayanda Dlamini, who was in charge of the side on an interim basis towards the end of the last season.
The Spanish tactician played his first official game in South Africa against Royal AM in DStv Premiership on Saturday. Both teams went home with a point after the match ended in a goalless draw.
Having been with Usuthu for some weeks, Martin says he’s not yet satisfied with his striking force, central midfield and defence. He added that if given an opportunity to sign players to bolster the aforementioned areas, he’d use that opportunity with the window still open.
PABLO FRANCO MARTIN ON WHAT IS DISCONTENT WITH AT AMAZULU
“We are talking about the players in the last third because they are the ones who can make the difference and can convert the situations we are creating,” he told the media.
“For me if you have clear goalscoring chances, that doesn’t mean you have to shoot [all the times]. Sometimes you don’t shoot, you do good decision-making, open up and tap the ball in.
“And from the very beginning, we’re talking about also trying to improve our central corridor in terms of defence, central midfielder and central defence. These are the positions we’re monitoring now.
“And if we find an opportunity in the market and can get this player who can improve, then we will go for them.”
However, the former Simba SC coach still went on to emphasise his belief in the group of players he has at his disposal at the moment.
‘I’M HAPPY WITH THEIR EFFORT’
“And if not, we will keep playing with these guys I’m really happy with them, with their commitment and effort,” Martin added.
“You know in the end all coaches in the world want more and more players. We are never happy with what we want. This is the mentality I have and I’m sure the rest of my colleagues in the league also have.”
