Kudakwashe Mahachi finally finds new home

After over a year without a club, former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United winger Kudakwashe Mahachi has found a new home in West Africa.

The former SuperSport United winger will hope to revive his career after a long struggle to find a new club.

Initial attempts to find him a new club were unsuccessful, as clubs were not keen to sign him. Some of the clubs include PSL side Maritzburg United as well as Highlanders and Chicken Inn of Zimbabwe.

WHERE MAHACHI WILL BE PLAYING IN WEST AFRICA

However, according to Ghana Soccernet, ambitious outfit Medeama SC has settled for the Zimbabwean.

The 29-year-old is part of Medeama SC’s latest signings ahead of the new Ghana Premier Soccer League season.

Mahachi signed a one-year renewable contract, having last played for SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership.

Medeama SC will be participating in the CAF Champions League after winning the 2022/23 Ghana league title.

WHEN KUDAKWASHE MAHACHI LAST PLAYED

Mahachi was cut into the wilderness in June 2022 when DStv Premiership side SuperSport United terminated his contract.

That was after the ex-Orlando Pirates attacker was dragged before the Zimbabwean courts, facing attempted murder charges.

His former wife accused him of attempting to murder his then 4-year-old son. Mahachi was, however, acquitted of the charges in November last year.

The attacker brings a wealth of experience to the ambitious Medeama SC, having played for Orlando Pirates and Golden Arrows in SA’s top flight.

Mahachi also spent some time in the books of Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership.

According to transfermarkt, Mahachi made a total of 153 appearances in SA. He managed to score 20 goals with 19 assists to his name.

In addition, the former SuperSport United winger was also a vital cog for the Zimbabwe national team.

For the Warriors, Kudakwashe Mahachi garnered 41 caps and four goals. How he will fare in Ghana remains to be seen, but the former SuperSport United will hope for good strides.
