Kaizer Chiefs is linked with Colombian striker Efmamjjasond González as they look to bolster their squad and FARPost looks at his stats.
Chiefs started the new season under new coach Molefi Ntseki with a draw against Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.
Once again, they could not get a goal, just like they struggled against Young Africans SC and Township Rollers in the pre-season. If we include the end of last season, Amakhosi have now failed to score in 270 minutes of play.
As expected, Chiefs have reportedly brought in an eighth player to their 2023/24 DStv Premiership squad.
González, who joins on a season-long loan from Bolivian club Real Santa Cruz, is their second striking signing. Ranga Chivaviro joined them from Marumo Gallants after a fairytale season.
A LOOK AT EFMAMMJJASOND GONZÁLEZ’S STATS
But what do the stats of the product of the esteemed Atlético Nacional Academy forward look like?
In the 2020/21 season, aged only 21, he started his senior career with Colombia’s Atlético Nacional. He managed one goal in six outings.
The following season, he got more game time, featuring in 24 games, which translated to 896 minutes.
He managed one goal and an assist that season. Early in 2023, he made a switch to Club Real Santa Cruz, who play in Bolivia’s top flight.

He has played 15 times in the current season, scoring eight goals. Interestingly, he has scored eight goals in his last 11 games in the Bolivian first-tier.
A move to Argentina’s San Lorenzo was supposed to offer a new lease of life, but he was subsequently sent out on two separate loans until he ended up in Bolivia.
The current term would be his breakthrough season, and he will be hoping to continue on an upward trajectory at Amakhosi.
At Amakhosi, he certainly looks likely to get playing opportunities with Chivaviro and Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana as the senior centre forwards.
However, the Burundian, Bimenyimana, seems to have fallen out of favour and could see minimal action this season.
