Why Seema is ‘comfortable’ with co-coaching set-up at Polokwane

Polokwane City co-coach Lehlohonolo Seema insists there is a common understanding between the three coaches in charge of the club.

Seema, Duncan Lechesa and Phuti Mohafe are all in charge as co-coaches at DStv Premiership returnees Rise and Shine.

Mohafe and Lechesa were part of the team when they gained promotion last season, while Seema only joined recently. On the team sheet for their DStv Premiership clash against Stellenbosch, City named the trio in the same capacity.

CO-COACHING SET-UP NOT AN ISSUE FOR SEEMA

Seema is not new to the co-coaching set-up, having been in a similar situation at Black Leopards alongside Dylan Kerr.

“Coaching is coaching my brother. That’s why you saw coach Phuti [Mohafe] in the first half [giving instructions]. You saw coach Duncan [Lechesa] in the second half [giving instructions],” he said.

“We will try and work, we are trying to come up with something that can help us. It’s not about who is in charge, we are all part of the technical team. One day you will see him [Duncan Lechesa] doing post-match interviews.

“So it’s not a problem for us, and we are working fine and okay. The only important thing is to make sure that we respect this badge and give the supporters the results they deserve,” added Seema.

POLOKWANE CITY MISSING THEIR CAPTAIN

Seema also gave an update on the injury of captain and long-serving player Puleng Marema. Marema has not played any part since the beginning of the season.

The 32-year-old was instrumental in the team’s promotion to the premier division. He is also the club’s all-time leading goals scorer with 65 goals.

“He is still nursing his injury. The operation went well, and he will be starting rehab,” revealed Seema. “We are really missing our captain, but if these guys are fighting like this, then he can recover well and not have pressure. But he is not that far, you will see him soon.”
