Grant Kekana singles out Arrows ‘dangermen’ ahead of their tie

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana has warned his teammates to be wary of Golden Arrows’ dangermen ahead of their DStv Premiership clash.

The two teams will battle it out for three points on Tuesday, 15 August, at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Tshwane, with kickoff set for 17:00.

In the previous seasons, Masandawana have been a dominant force against Abafana Bes’thende, winning matches.

Last season the 2015/16 CAF Champions League winners stretched their dominance against Arrows. In the first leg, they won 2-1 and in the return leg they shared the spoils as the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

Heading into the encounter, both sides will be aiming to maintain and stretch their unbeaten run in the league. The Tshwane giants have registered two wins, whilst the KZN outfit have a victory and a draw.

GRANT KEKANA NAMES GOLDEN ARROWS DANGERMEN

According to the Bafana Bafana international, his teammates should be aware of the duo of Knox Mutizwa and Ryan Moon as they can cause problems in attack.

In the 2022/23 campaign, Moon scored five goals and provided an assist in 26 matches in all competitions. Whereas, Mutizwa scored eight goals alongside six assists in 27 matches in all competitions.

“We know [Golden] Arrows are tough, and they are quite good on the counter [attack] with Knox Mutizwa coming in and Ryan Moon coming in behind,” said Kekana.

“They will be changing; also the wingers coming in, inside. We have seen where the danger is at. We’re going to try to make sure they are not as effective on the day.

“It’s going to be tough because those are quality players as well. We bank on ourselves always, it’s going to be a good show. We’ve analyzed them quite well, and we’ll be looking to exploit the areas we think we’re going to benefit.”

The 30-year-old further revealed that they are unfazed by playing many matches in August.

After Arrows match, Bafana Ba Style will be left with three league games against Chippa United, Richards Bay FC and Polokwane City FC.

“The boys are still looking sharp, looking hungry. The games are going to come thick and fast. But I think the pre-season laid a solid base because we were playing games every two or three days. I think we’ve adapted to that schedule,” he added.
