Sundowns thrash Arrows to make three-in-three
Mamelodi Sundowns thrashed Golden Arrows 4-0 on Tuesday at Lucas Moripe Stadium to make it three victories in three in the DStv Premiership.
Peter Shalulile, Lesiba Nku [brace] and Grant Kekana found the back of the net.
CLINICAL MAMELODI SUNDOWNS IN FRONT OF GOAL
It was one-way traffic in the first half as the hosts were dominant throughout. They enjoyed a ball possession of 78 percent compared to 22 of Abafana Bes’thende.
The first goal came just after quarter-hour in the 17th minute courtesy of Peter Shalulile with a great finish.
In a short space of four minutes, Masandawana doubled their advantage through new signing Lesiba Nku. He netted his first goal in Sundowns colours following some brilliant team play.
In the 26th minute, Mothobi Mvala tried his luck from long range, but his effort was off-target. Moments later, Tebogo Mokoena almost got his name on the scoresheet but was unlucky as his shot hit the upright.
Bafana Bafana international Grant Kekana made it 3-0 just before half time from a set-piece to put Bafana Ba Style in cruise control.
Therefore Sundowns went on the break comfortably leading with a three-goal cushion.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS CONTINUE DOMINATING PLAY
Just three minutes into the second half, it was 4-0 as Nku bagged his brace from close range.
In the 69th minute, substitute Junior Mendieta tried his luck from long range, but it was saved by Ismail Watenga.
The Brazilians were dealt with a heavy blow as Shalulile was forced off due to injury and was replaced by Siyanda Nyanga in the 73rd minute.
