What has changed in the Pirates squad this season
Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has revealed what he believes has changed in the Orlando Pirates squad this season.
The Soweto giants displayed a great performance on Saturday at Orlando Stadium, thrashing Babina Noko 5-0 in the MTN8 quarterfinal to advance to the semi-finals, where they will face Stellenbosch FC.
Zakhele Lepasa stole the show, scoring a hat-trick, whilst Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo and Monnapule Saleng were also on the scoresheet.
Disappointed Truter couldn’t his feelings revealing that the Bucs were a better team and they wanted the victory more than his charges.
The mentor believes the Sea Robbers have changed their mentality this season.

“The mentality has changed. You can see the quality, you can see the understanding and the growth in the team,” said Truter.
“And where that becomes a certain belief and do better than last season. The belief and mentality still has to come out and play football.
“The Pirates boys played football and wanted this game. While I think the mentality of us thinking that we can come to Orlando and win the game against Pirates, I think the mentality is wrong.”

Despite the humiliating scoreline, the mentor, nicknamed ‘Brakkies’, believes his side has quality and there is room for improvement.
“If you look at the players we lost and the players we got in, it’s better quality in terms of technical and tactical ability,” he added. “The mentality in the squad; there is a bit of confidence and arrogance in the squad.”
For Sekhukhune, it’s back to the drawing board as they will look to redeem themselves in their next assignment.
