Latest on Samir Nurkovic to Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca

Things are not looking all rosy for former Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic, who has been trying his luck at Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca.

Samir Nurkovic has had several of his attempts to find a new club hit a snag. He was being assessed by former Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer, who is at the helm of the club.

Zinnbauer is being assisted by South African assistants Fadlu Davids and Darien Wilken Raja, who are the three-time CAF Champions League winners.

WHAT ARE SAMIR NURKOVIC’S CHANCES AT RAJA

However, the gunslinger Samir Nurkovic has reportedly been turned down by Moroccan giants Raja Athletic Club, who have been camped in Qatar.

According to impeccable sources, the former Kaizer Chiefs hitman is no longer training with the club.

In addition, the Serbian has been instructed to stop training as the club does not plan to sign him.

His physical condition has been the main reason why the club decided against signing the 31-year-old.

The latest rejection by Raja Athletic Club follows several attempts to find a new home in the PSL.

“Kokota Piano”, as Samir Nurkovic is fondly known, trained with Cape Town City last month, but nothing materialised.

His agent, Dajan Simac, confirmed that Nurkovic failed to secure a contract with the Citizens as the two parties could not reach an agreement.

HOW SAMIR NURKOVIC LEFT ROYAL AM

As it stands, the former Kaizer Chiefs gunslinger, Samir Nurkovic, is a free agent after being released by Royal AM in October last year.

Royal AM and Nurkovic are still embroiled in the football courts following their nasty divorce. The club has failed to pay out Nurkovic around R12 million.

And the wrangle has seen the Kwazulu Natal-based side being slapped with a 12-month ban by FIFA.

Nurkovic joined the DStv Premiership in July 2019 when he signed for Kaizer Chiefs from KFC Komarno.

He parted ways with Chiefs in June 2022. Interestingly, since leaving Amakhosi, he has struggled to find stability, and it remains to be seen where he will end.
