Thabo Cele finds new home
Bafana Bafana star Thabo Cele has found a new home following months of speculation over his future.
The 26-year-old midfielder has joined Russian Premier League side FC Fakel Voronezh from Polish club, FC Radomiak.
The talented midfield maestro has been heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
Six days ago, FARPost reported that Kaizer Chiefs’ negotiations with the South African international have hit a snag, as the two parties seem not to agree on terms.
Cele’s contract with Radomiak was set to come to an end in June 2024. However, the club was willing to release the talented midfielder if he receives a good deal, and it has finally happened.
The ex-Real SC man was one of the players who did extremely well for Bafana at the 2023 COSAFA Cup.
The South African-born footballer featured in all four opening matches at the COSAFA tournament. He went on to showcase what he is made of for Morena Ramoreboli’s side.
His top-notch displays against Namibia were awarded with the Man of the Match accolade after the showpiece.
KAIZER CHIEFS WERE NOT THE ONLY TEAM INTERESTED IN THABO CELE’S SERVICES
The Glamour Boys were not the only side that was interested in the services of the defensive midfielder.
Some of the teams that were keen to acquire the signature of Cele are Morocco’s AS FAR Rabat, Sekhukhune United, AmaZulu, MLS side St Louis City SC, to mention a few.
Cele will be expected to add the much-needed experience to the Russian side’s midfield options. And guide them to the promised land.
One can say that it won’t be a surprise to see Cele become an instant hit at FC Fakel Voronezh given his extensive experience of the beautiful game.
