Former Swallows striker lands deal with European club

Former Moroka Swallows and Black Leopards striker Daniel Gozar has landed himself a new deal, this time around in Cyprus.

Gozar has joined the North Nicosia side Kucuk Kaymakli Turk S.K after his contract with Swallows was terminated in June 2023.

The Turkish Cypriot club confirmed the arrival of the forward on Friday, 18 August 2023.

“Welcome to the Forest, Daniel Gozar,” read the club’s statement. The goalscorer joins the side on a two-year deal.

Gozar arrived in South Africa back in August 2019 when he joined the now-defunct Free State Stars from Ghanaian side Ashanti Gold.

In September 2020, he joined Maswaiswai while they were competing in National First Division. He formed part of the squad that helped the Dube Birds gain promotion to the SA top flight.

In Swallows’ first campaign on their return to the Premiership, Gozar featured in 10 games in all competitions for the club, scoring one goal.

However, the following season, he was loaned out to Lidoda Duvha, where he spent the rest of the 2021/22 campaign.

Last campaign, he returned to Swallows, but unfortunately, the forward did not feature in any games of the Soweto side.

At the end of the last term, the two parties succumbed to a decision to go their separate ways, as the player struggled to get game time.

The player will be hoping that his move to Cyprus will yield fruitful results, as he wants to revive his football career.

Gozar is one player who will also be expected to add value to his new side’s striking force this campaign.

And the Turkish Cypriot club eagerly anticipates Gozar’s impact on the field of play and are optimistic that the player will score important goals for them.

Gozar will be eager to prove his doubters wrong at his new club. He struggled to make an impact in SA.
