Bartlett issues update on Boitumelo Radiopane’s injury
Cape Town Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett has issued an update on Orlando Pirates loanee Boitumelo Radiopane.
Radiopane suffered a bone fracture during the PSL Promotion/Relegation playoffs last season, which were won by CT Spurs.
The 21-year-old is on a season-long loan from the Buccaneers to the newly promoted side. It was expected that he could recover in time ahead of the new season.
But Bartlett has since revealed that the SA Junior International will only return to action in January next year.
SHAUN BARTLETT UPDATE ON ORLANDO PIRATES LOANEE
“You won’t see him until January,” revealed Bartlett.
“It was a really bad injury, so he had surgery, so obviously, this led to the Doctor saying four to five months. So he only had the surgery in July which put him out for the rest of the first round of the season.
SPURS LOOKING FOR A STRIKER AS BOITUMELO RADIOPANE RECOVERS
Bartlett has also confirmed that the club is now forced to look for a striker but outside of the country. The Urban Warriors have only managed one goal in three matches.
“At this moment in time, obviously we are looking for a proven goalscorer. Of which every coach or team in the country is looking for. Currently, in the country, there is nobody available, so we got to try and look abroad.
During the week, Spurs also announced the signing of Nicholus Lukhubeni on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns. The 27-year-old spent the past season at Moroka Swallows.
“Nicholus is a great option for us on the right-hand side, but the biggest challenge for us is obviously he is not match fit. So we have to work on that.
“Maybe another three to four weeks before he is ready, and then we will be able to utilise his services. But at this moment in time, he has to work on his individual programme in order to benefit the team,” added Bartlett.
