Ex-Pirates midfielder Tebogo Tlolane finds new home

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Tebogo Tlolane has found a new home following a long-season loan stint at Maritzburg United.

Tlolane has been in and out of the Pirates team since first joining the club from Chippa United in 2019.

He has spent the majority of his spell at the Soweto giants out on loan at Maritzburg, where he has had three different loan stints.

The 28-year-old midfielder has joined DStv Premiership side Golden Arrows FC after parting ways with Orlando Pirates.

Initially, before he penned a deal with Arrows, Tlolane was linked with a move to Amazulu FC, having spent more than a week on trial. However, he was not fortunate enough to earn a contract with Usuthu.

As confirmed by FARPost earlier this week, the talented midfielder has instead joined AmaZulu’s KZN rivals, Golden Arrows. He spent the previous season with Maritzburg United, who are now playing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship following their relegation from SA’s topflight.

“Tlolane, although plays on the left wing, he is a versatile midfielder who will add depth to the squad & allow for the coaches to have options in the middle,” reads the Arrows statement.

Tlolane featured in six games, including in the PSL Promotion/Relegation playoffs for The Team of Choice last campaign.

The attacker is among three new signings announced by Abafana Bes’thende on Friday, 25 August 2023.

The club further acquired the services of an Ivorian striker, Gbagbo Magbi. Magbi featured for the Ah Ahly shendi and Wydad Casablanca and Jeddah FC.

They further reinforced their goalkeeping department with Olufemi Kayode from Nigeria.

Kayode has honed his skills in the Nigerian Professional Football League as well as the Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League.

With the additional signings made, Abafana Bes’thende will look to seal a top-eight finish in the DStv premiership.

They have thus far won one match [2-1 Richards Bay FC], drawn one [1-1 Moroka Swallows FC ] and suffered one defeat [0-4 Mamelodi Sundowns] in their opening three league games.

These results see them positioned on the 10th spot of the log standing, with four points.

The KZN side will host Premiership returnees in their next game on Saturday, 26 August 2023.
