Why Reeve Frosler is ruled out of Chiefs-AmaZulu tie
Reeve Frosler has been ruled out of Kaizer Chiefs’ DStv Premiership clash with AmaZulu FC at the FNB Stadium.
Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki named his starting line-up, and the right-back was a surprise omission.
Despite Amakhosi’s slow start to the season, Frosler has put in some good performances on the right side of defence.
Frosler has displayed some good defensive work, and recoveries and looks to be evolving into the new role under Ntseki.
The former Bafana Bafana coach has had to replace him with Zitha Kwinika, who gets his first start of the season.
REEVE FROSLER ABSENCE EXPLAINED
Kwinika primarily played as a centre-back last season, often partnering with Edmilson Dove. Following the arrival of Given Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, he has been relegated to the bench.
But he will see his start against Usuthu as an opportunity to show what he is capable of. The former Stellenbosch FC defender gets the nod after Frosler had to be dropped due to illness.
“Another returnee is defender Zitha Kwinika, who will come in for the unwell Reeve Frosler,” read an update on the club’s website.
Frosler’s absence will be a blow to Chiefs, who are looking to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to TS Galaxy in their previous league match.
SETBACK FOR KAIZER CHIEFS
AmaZulu have had a lukewarm start to the season, having played goalless draws in their opening three league matches.
Frosler’s illness is a further setback for Chiefs, who are already without Ranga Chivaviro, Keagan Dolly and Dove.
However, Ntseki will be happy to welcome back a man fast establishing himself as the team’s talisman – Ashley Du Preez. The former Stellies forward missed last Sunday’s tie due to a bout of flu.
Ntseki will be hoping that Frosler recovers quickly and is available for selection for their next match, which is against Stellenbosch FC away in Cape Town on Wednesday.
