Guilty Chiefs told what to do by PSL after fans’ missile-throwing incident
Kaizer Chiefs have been given a directive by the PSL after they were found guilty following the missile-throwing incident by their fans.
Chiefs supporters threw objects at their coach, Molefi Ntseki, following the 1-0 loss to TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, August 20.
Supporters demanded that head coach Ntseki get sacked hardly two months after taking over the coaching reigns.
The loss to Galaxy was the second of the new season after they had already lost to high-flying Mamelodi Sundowns. Amakhosi have only won one, drawn one and lost two of the four games they have played thus far in the DStv Premiership.
Now, PSL prosecutor advocate Zola Majavu has revealed what the League has instructed Chiefs on what to do after they pleaded guilty.
ADVOCATE ZOLA MAJAVU REVEALS PSL DIRECTIVE TO KAIZER CHIEFS
“I can confirm that earlier this morning [Tuesday], Kaizer Chiefs Football Club appeared before the PSL DC to answer to charges of misconduct relating to missile throwing incident, otherwise known as spectator misbehaviour in their fixture against TS Galaxy,” Majavu said.
“They pleaded guilty as charged, and they were subsequently convicted. After listening to deliberation on sanctions, the PSL DC ruled as follows:
“Kaizer Chiefs was fined a monetary amount of R100 00, of which R30 000 is suspended for a period of 24 months, on condition that during the period of suspension, they are not found guilty of the same offence.
“Effectively, they were directed to pay R70 000, together with the costs of the sitting, which will be administratively completed by the league and added onto the R70 000 fine.
“They were further directed to send a written apology to the league and the sponsors. Also, to carry that apology on their website.
“The DC also made several recommendations, which will be contained in a written ruling. Those will be shared first with Kaizer Chiefs.
“It will be up to Kaizer Chiefs to elect whether to implement them or not. They will also have a choice to publicise those recommendations.”
