Bartlett explains why Radiopane is the key to Spurs’ revival
Cape Town Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett has explained why on-loan Orlando Pirates striker Boitumelo Radiopane is the key to the struggling club’s revival.
CT Spurs are having a difficult stint so far in their first season back in the DStv Premiership after gaining promotion through the PSL Promotional/Relegation playoffs.
They are the only team yet to register a point following five consecutive league defeats. The Capetonians also have difficulties at the back and in attack. They’ve only found the back of the net two times and conceded 10 goals, which is the highest so far.
Last season, Radiopane was causing all sorts of problems for defenders and goalkeepers before sustaining an injury setback towards the end of the campaign. The 20-year-old scored seven goals.
SHAUN BARTLETT ON BOITUMELO RADIOPANE BEING CT SPURS’ MISSING LINK
According to the former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana striker, last season, Radiopane helped the team a lot in scoring goals. To add, he gave them many options in attack as he’s a versatile player.
“I think [Boitumelo] Radiopane for us is a big miss, him being injured because he’s the one [who understood] the way we played normally,” said Bartlett.
“He gave us a lot of options upfront as far as scoring goals. That’s one player I think could have made a massive difference.
“He’s not available for at least January [2024]. So we have to soldier on and make the best of what we have currently.”
SHAUN BARTLETT HINTS ON MORE SIGNINGS
Bartlett further hinted that the club might not be done in the transfer market as he’s aiming to bolster the squad at the back and in attack.
“I’ve been speaking to the management to see if there are possibilities of bringing other players in, in certain positions that can help us.
“We need to find solutions as well as quickly as possible, there are only two or three weeks left till the transfer window closes.
“I think, ideally we need one attacking midfielder, possibly a defender and a striker. I think obviously everyone is looking for a striker,” he added.
