Mamelodi Sundowns, the reigning DStv Premiership champions, have announced a new partnership with Red Bull, but who are their other partners?
The new partnership, facilitated by Roc Nation Sports International, will see Red Bull become the club’s official beverage partner.
This is the first time that Red Bull has partnered with a football club in South Africa. Red Bull currently owns and operates football clubs in Austria, Germany, and the United States.
SIGNIFICANT COUP FOR RED BULL
The partnership with Sundowns is a significant coup for Red Bull. The club is one of the most successful in South African football, having won the last six PSL titles successively.
The unassailable six successive titles bring their tally to a record 13. Sundowns Ladies’ side was named the Best Women’s Club in Africa by the International Federation of Football and Statistics (IFFHS). This was in February 2023.
The Brazilians also have a strong following in the country. Both parties look set to benefit from the partnership. Downs chairman Tlhopie Motsepe has stressed the importance of bringing another global brand to the club.
