TS Galaxy have unveiled the former Kaizer Chiefs striker as their latest acquisition as they continue to bolster their squad after losing some of their best players ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.
Prior to the start of the season, the Rockets cashed in on Djakaridja Junior Traorè who was crucial in front of goal in the previous campaign. The Ivorian forward signed for Istanbulspor in Turkey. Last season, he scored seven goals and recorded one assist in just 18 appearances.
Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic recently pointed at the striking department as their weakest point. This was after they failed to score in their past two games against AmaZulu FC and Royal AM.
The club has acted fast to back the German tactician with the reinforcement up front. As first reported by FARPost that Samir Nurkovic was heading to Galaxy, the club has confirmed his signing as a free agent.
The 31-year-old penned a one-year deal and an option to extend when his contract runs out in May 2024.

“We welcome Samir Nurkovic to The Rockets Family. Nurkovic has signed until May 2024 with the option to extend his contract at the end of the season,” the club announced via their media platforms.
Ramovic expects Nurkovic to be a solution for Galaxy who have scored only two goals in their opening five games this season.
‘Kokota’, as he’s well-known in SA football, had been clubless for more than ten months after his former side Royal AM terminated his contract last year.
Nurkovic made a name for himself during his time at Kaizer Chiefs where he scored 14 goals in all competitions during his first season.
Meanwhile, in total, he scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists during his spell at Naturena.
