Mokete Tsotetsi and Punch Masenamela land new coaching roles
Former Kaizer Chiefs defenders Mokete Tsotetsi and Punch Masenamela have secured new coaching roles at a Limpopo-based team.
Tsotetsi [40] and Masenamela [36] have been involved in SAFA lower leagues since their retirement.
FARPost can confirm that Tsotsetsi has been appointed head coach of ambitious ABC Motsepe League side The Dolphins. Masenamela has also been roped in as his assistant for the upcoming season.
The Limpopo ABC Motsepe League is set to kick off during the first week of October.
ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE SIDE APPOINT FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS DEFENDERS
General Manager of the club Eric Lehong has confirmed the appointment of the pair and what mandate the club has given them.
“He [Mokete Tsotetsi] is tasked with promoting the team to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. So whatever player he wants we will support him,” he said.
Tsotetsi is not new to the SAFA promotional league. He has taken charge of various clubs across the country including securing promotion for now-defunct Maccabi in 2018. He spent the past season at North West ABC Motsepe League outfit Black Eagles.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF PUNCH MASENAMELA AND MOKETE TSOTETSI
“There are coaches who have not played professionally and only know theory. So when you employ them sometimes you don’t know some of the things. But also there are some former players who are knowledgeable and that’s what we thought these two would be helpful because they have played.
“In 2018 were lost out to him in the [ABC Motsepe League national playoffs] semi-finals. If you remember while he was at Maccabi he beat us in the past 15 minutes to gain promotion. So we are also expecting him to help us secure a promotion,” he explained.
The Dolphins also boost ex-professionals such as Katlego Mashego, Donald Mokondelela and Themba Chauke. They missed out on promotion last season during the Limpopo playoffs, losing to Mpheni Home Defenders.
