Nurkovic names player he’s looking forward to playing with at TS Galaxy

Newly signed TS Galaxy striker Samir Nurkovic has named a player he’s looking forward to playing with at the club.

Nurkovic was signed on a free transfer by the Rockets for the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season on a one-year deal.

The Serbian forward spent over ten months as a free agent after he was released by Royal AM in October 2022.

Nurkovic is the second striker to join Galaxy in the current transfer window after they signed Thamsanqa Gabuza, who was in the books of SuperSport United last season.

During his search for a new home, Nurkovic came close to signing with Cape Town City at the end of last season. However, the deal fell through as both parties failed to agree on personal terms.

The striker was first introduced to the SA’s top-flight football by Kaizer Chiefs during the 2019/20 campaign. In his three seasons at Chiefs, he featured in over 70 games and scored 21 goals while making 10 assists.

With Nurkovic itching to return to action in the Premiership, he has revealed that he can’t wait to play with Bernard Parker again. Nurkovic and Parker were teammates at Amakhosi.

“I’m at TS Galaxy to revive my career, and it all depends on me as a player how much work I’ll put in,” Nurkovic said on Metro FM.

“There are different ways to keep fit. If you are a professional, you’ll find a way to keep fit whether at the gym or park.

“I’m also glad to be able to get a chance to play with Bernard Parker again. He’s an amazing player and a good friend of mine. I hope goals will be coming in earlier.”

Meanwhile, Nurkovic will be expected to hit the ground running. His new club, Galaxy, has won two games, drawn one and lost twice in five games played thus far. They are positioned eighth on the league table with seven points.
