Kgoloko Thobejane finds new home
Former Baroka FC coach Kgoloko Thobejane has found a new home six months after leaving Som United.
Thobejane stepped down from his role as Som’s head coach in February 2023. This was after the arrival of Lebogang Mothibantwa at the club. Mothibantwa was set to be appointed as the assistant coach at the time.
Thobejane has since been appointed as the head coach of Northern Cape ABC Motsepe League outfit Postmasburg FC.
Postmasburg are a very ambitious team with players who are capable enough to challenge for promotion to the South African football second tier.
When Thobejane left Som, barely four months into the job, the side was placed second in Stream A last campaign.
One can say the ex-Bakgaga coach was cruising nicely at Som, as he had won seven out of the nine league games.
With that being said, Thobejane will be expected to replicate the same thing he had going at Som before his resignation.
KGOLOKO THOBEJANE’S COME GET ME PLEA
In May 2023, Thobejane issued a ‘come get me plea’ to local clubs in his interview with FARPost.
“I’m still waiting for a chance [to return to the dugout],” Thobejane said during the interview with this publication.
Now, his prayers have been answered by the man from above, and he is ready to hit the ground running.
Thobejane will be tasked with ensuring that the Northern Cape side gains promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
And it won’t be a surprise to see Thobejane achieve the ultimate goal of qualifying for the ABC League national playoffs and getting promoted to the Nation First Division with his extensive experience.
The South African football third tier will commence anytime soon. This is due to the awaiting of the confirmation dates of the 2023/24 season fixtures from respective provinces.
