AmaZulu FC receives major boost with striker’s return from injury
AmaZulu FC head coach Pablo Franco Martin is delighted with the return of the striker who has been watching from the stands for a while due to an injury.
Usuthu are gearing up for their next DStv Premiership clash against Cape Town City. The two sides will face off at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday, 17 September at 17:30.
The KZN side has scored just one goal in five games this season. They only rattled the back of the net in their previous match against TS Galaxy courtesy of Augustine Kwem.
This was also their first win this season under the Spanish mentor’s guidance.
AmaZulu have received a major boost as Junior Dion has returned from injury. The Ivorian striker dislocated his arm during the KZN Premier’s Cup in the pre-season.
Martin admitted they missed the services of the Ivorian forward upfront and hopes he will be a solution to their goal-scoring issues.
JUNIOR DION BACK FROM INJURY
“He’s training fully with the team now, we’re really happy,” he said to the journalists on Wednesday during the club’s media open day.
“One of the players we were missing from the beginning of the season. He couldn’t play any official game even in part of the pre-season, he was already injured.
“He was the [club’s] top-goal scorer last season and especially if you see the number of games he played. We hope he can be with the team in the official games from the next one and help us to score those goals as well.”
The 29-year-old was a top-goal scorer of Usuthu last season, scoring five goals and recording one assist across all competitions.
Meanwhile, during the Usuthu’s training on Wednesday, George Maluleka was spotted in takkies, stretching alone on the side. He’s in doubt for the upcoming games.
