‘Cape Town City, even Sundowns are afraid of them,’ says Mobara

AmaZulu FC defender Abbubaker Mobara has given his preview of their next DStv Premiership clash against his former side Cape Town City.

Usuthu will be aiming to extend their winning run to two games having won their first game this season in their previous match against TS Galaxy

Meanwhile, the Citizens are looking to get back to winning ways after losing the previous four games in all competitions.

Sharing his thoughts about the upcoming fixture, Mobara, feels City are a tough side to combat, saying even the champions Mamelodi Sundowns are fearful of them.

However, he believes they still stand a chance to keep the maximum points at home.

“It’s Cape Town City, even Sundowns is afraid of them,” he said during the club’s media open day on Wednesday.

“Obviously, for us, it’s also a difficult match. It’s a team that, obviously, holds the ball, and creates opportunities, a team that never gives up to play at all until the final whistle.

“So, I think if we continue doing what the coach asks, stick to the game plan, I think we stand a chance to get three points.”

The KZN side is 14th on the log standings having amassed six points after five games.

Mobara says their position motivates them to work hard as early as possible to keep away from the drop zone.

“It would be nice if we could be further up the table so that we can also minimise the pressure on us,” he added.

“Knowing the log and the standing of where we are on the table, could have an effect on our form. But also it can be a major positive because it will give us the motivation of trying to get further up the table and not stay 14th the whole season.

“Improve and take each game as a cup final, so we can climb up the table.”

AmaZulu and City face off on Sunday, 17 September at 5:30 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
