Mahlasela’s reasons for predicting high-scoring Royal AM vs Chiefs clash
Royal AM midfielder Kabelo Mahlasela has predicted a high-scoring clash between Royal AM and Kaizer Chiefs in their upcoming DStv Premiership match.
The Glamour Boys will host Thwihli Thwahla at FNB stadium in a DStv Premiership encounter on Saturday at 5:30 pm.
The 32-year-old midfielder who once donned the colours of Amakhosi is anticipating a thrilling game against his former side.
Undoubtedly, Mahlasela knows one or two things about Amakhosi, as he once represented them in 2018.
During his time in Naturena, he featured in 17 games in all competitions before he was sent out on loan to Polokwane City in 2020.
Mahlasela has been with his current side since 2021, joining from Tshakuma Tsha Madzhivhandila who were relegated to ABC Motsepe League last season.
The two sides have met five times in all competitions since AM bought the top-flight status in 2021. The KZN outfit defeated Chiefs three times in a row.
However, the mighty Soweto giants have won the past two encounters against the Pietermaritzburg-based side.
MAHLASELA PREVIEWS ROYAL AM’S CLASH AGAINST KAIZER CHIEFS
“Looking at both teams, Chiefs have won two of their previous games. And we also won two of our previous games. So in football, you win the games by scoring goals,” he said.
“I believe it will be a game of scoring, definitely both teams are scoring. So, I’m expecting a game of scoring.”
In addition, Mahlasela feels that the international mini-break did them good as a team to freshen up their minds ahead of the clash with Amakhosi.
‘WE NEEDED A BREAK’
“Of course, we needed a break as a team to freshen up our minds. And to come fresh and ready for the upcoming game at the weekend,” he added.
“It’s always nice to play against big teams, I think it will be a very interesting game on Saturday. Hopefully, the supporters will come out in numbers just to cheer us up and keep us going.
“I’m expecting a lot of numbers [supporters] to come to watch the game of football, so yeah we are well prepared and ready to fight.”
