What impressed Mokwena during the CAF encounter in Tanzania

Besides the 4-0 convincing win against Bumamuru FC in the CAF Champions League, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena was left impressed with other aspects of their visit to Tanzania.

The first leg of the second preliminary fixture against the Burundi champions was played in neighbouring Tanzania due to a lack of facilities that meet the CAF standards in the country.

The most successful club in the PSL era will take a 4-0 lead going into the second leg after goals by Lucas Ribeiro [brace], Lesiba Nku and Peter Shalulile.

RULANI MOKWENA IMPRESSED WITH TANZANIA HOSPITALITY

Mokwena was full of praise for the local people of Tanzania on how the DStv Premiership champions were well received throughout their stay.

“Let me take this opportunity to thank the Tanzanian people. Ever since we arrived you showed us great hospitality, the warmth and reception that you showed us was incredible,” he told journalists.

“I just want to take this opportunity on behalf of Mamelodi Sundowns, our leadership, and the Motsepe family. The Tanzanian Football Association and the government for hospitality.”

The second leg will be played at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, 30 September. But Mokwena insists they are not even thinking of that encounter as they have other important fixtures before.

BUSY WEEK AHEAD FOR CHAMPIONS MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

Masandawana will take on Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbisch before they welcome Bumamuru FC.

“I must tell you, I have not even had time to absorb the match already. The most important thing on my mind now is to drink a lot of water. Get home, get a lot of sleep and prepare for the next match,” he said.

“There are a lot of important matches for us before the second match. So you will excuse me for not even having an idea of what the second leg should look like.”
