SuperSport United loan out one of their recent signings

DStv Premiership side SuperSport United have loaned out one of their strikers who was only signed a few months ago.

Senegalese striker Mamour Niang who has struggled with game time has officially been loaned out for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old joined the PSL side in January this year from Senegalese side Teungueth FC on a one-and-a-half-year deal with an option to renew.

GAVIN HUNT NOT IMPRESSED WITH HIS SENEGALESE STRIKER?

Following his signing, United coach Gavin Hunt described Niang as a typical number nine who is destined for greater things.

“We wanted to bring in a younger striker to complement the experience we have upfront. Niang is a typical number nine,” said Hunt at that time.

“He will be able to take off some of the workload from our strike force. His aerial power is going to cause teams problems and I’m looking forward to pushing him to higher levels.”

But the striker has not lived up to expectations and failed to command a regular starting position at SuperSport United.

The striker has now joined Motsepe Foundation Championship side Maritzburg United on a season-long loan. He made his first appearance for Maritzburg during the 2-0 win against Casric Stars on Friday after coming in as a substitute.

Meanwhile, there were some notable players who also featured for the team of Choice on Friday. Former SA Junior International Athenkosi Dlala and Namibia international Joslin Kamatuka have also moved to Maritzburg.

Following their win on Friday, they have now jumped to the top of the log with seven points. This follows their two wins against Casric and Milford and a draw against AmaTuks.

Their next Motsepe Foundation Championship match is an encounter against Baroka FC on Sunday, 24 September in Limpopo.
