Venda FC make changes to their technical team
Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda FC have made some major changes to their technical team just three games into the new season.
The club has currently collected two points in their opening three matches after two draws and a defeat.
They are led by former Black Leopards and Chippa United mentor Joel Masutha assisted by Morgan Shivambu. The club has now decided to rope in well-traveled PSL coach Johnny Ferreira as a technical director, FARPost has learnt.
VENDA FC MAKE CHANGES AS JOHNNY FERREIRA RETURNS
Ferreira is no stranger to the club as he was their first coach during their first season in the professional set-up three seasons ago. He has been unemployed since parting ways with now-defunct Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
FARPost sources spotted Ferreira at Venda FC training grounds in Louis Trichardt, Limpopo on Monday morning. He was also formally introduced to the whole squad and appeared to be hands-on during the training session.
WILL JOEL MASUTHA REMAIN IN CHARGE AT THE MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE?
Meanwhile, speaking after the 1-1 against Pretoria Callies on Saturday, Masutha was optimistic that the fortunes would change for the better soon.
“We just need to motivate the players, pointing fingers will only add pressure because the players might be afraid to express themselves on the field. So from here we just need to motivate them. Push them to a level where we know they are capable of reaching,” he said.
“Obviously, we are disappointed by dropping two points since we held a lead for the better part of the match.
“We were obsessed with protecting our lead than to find a second goal that would have secured us the points. We need to have more courage when we are playing at home. But I can’t blame the players because they honestly did their best.”
Venda FC, who are yet to officially announce the return of Ferreira, will take on City Rovers in Thohoyandou on Saturday.
