AmaZulu defender joins Leopards as coach Dorado quits

A defender from AmaZulu FC has joined lower division side Black Leopards, while the Limpopo-based side’s head coach, Alejandro Dorado, has reportedly quit.

The latest developments come as Leopards have struggled in the first three matches of the season under the Spanish mentor, Dorado.

Fans reportedly confronted the Lidoda Duvha management after their league match against Motsepe Foundation Championship newcomers Orbit College over the weekend. Leopards lost the game 2-0, which was their second defeat of the season.

As a result of the poor start to the new season, they are languishing second from the bottom of the log with a single point.

THENDO MUKUMELA SECURE MOVE TO BLACK LEOPARDS

FARPost has since gathered that defender Thendo Mukumela has joined Leopards.

The 25-year-old, once reportedly on the wanted list at Kaizer Chiefs, is set to start training at the club on Tuesday. He joins on a one-year deal.

Another AmaZulu player who is also joining the Limpopo club is fellow defender Sandile Khumalo. Just like Mukumela, Khumalo has also struggled for game time at Usuthu this season.

HAS COACH ALEJANDRO DORADO QUIT LIDODA DUVHA?

This publication has also established that Dorado will not be in charge of the league match against Magesi on Saturday. Malawian and former captain at the club, Peter Mponda, looks likely to take charge on a temporary basis.

FARPost has also been reliably informed that Dorado was not at their training grounds in Polokwane on Monday.

During his official unveiling in July, Dorado was asked if he would be prepared to face the consequences if results were not forthcoming.

“Everybody has been fired in their careers, don’t worry,” he said at the time.

“I hope that Black Leopards will not fire me in the future, but if Black Leopards fire me, don’t worry. Life goes on,” Dorado told the media.

Leopards will be back in action on Saturday, 23 September. They travel to the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium for the clash against high-flying Magesi. The Clinton Larsen-coached side has won two of their opening three matches and is currently third on the log table.
