Taariq Fielies set to leave CT City, KZN-bound

Cape Town City defender Taariq Fielies has reportedly left camp with his destination, a KZN DStv Premiership side.

CT City take on TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium tonight in a DStv Premiership clash.

However, Fielies is not part of the team as he is in Durban where he is set to complete a move to AmaZulu FC.

AmaZulu continue to bolster their squad with the transfer window set to close on Friday. On Wednesday, they announced the signing of Ben Motshwari from Orlando Pirates.

They have since added Fielies as they look to bolster their defence and the centre-back becomes the 11th signing for Usuthu this season.

An AmaZulu source revealed that the Cape Town-born star would likely be unveiled on Thursday or Friday.

Fielies leaves the Citizens having spent six seasons with the club he joined in 2017 from the then-second-tier side Milano United. He was part of the team that won the MTN8 trophy in the 2018/19 season under the leadership of Benni McCarthy.

The Western Cape side beat SuperSport in the penalty shootout at the Moses Mabhida Stadium to walk away victors. Fielies joins a list of a few players who left Cape Town-based in this transfer window.

City have parted ways with Bertrand Mani and Mogamat May who left as free agents. Meanwhile, Mduduzi Mdantsane was sold to the Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.

Further, the club also let go of Jordan Bender and Ashley Nel who are currently without teams. Lastly, Eric Tinkler’s side also waved goodbye to the left-back Lyle Lakay who spent the last season with them on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Besides the two aforementioned arrivals, AmaZulu signed Celimpilo Ngema, Mlondi Mbanjwa, Mfanafuthi Mkhize, Wayde Jooste, and Rowan Human. The club also welcomed Victorien Adebayor, Siyanda Hlangabeza, Victor Letsoalo, and Andile Mbanjwa.
