Leopards rope in former SA Junior International coach
Motsepe Foundation Championship side Black Leopards have added a former South Africa under 20 national coach Solly Luvhengo to their technical team.
Luvhengo makes a return to the PSL after a short stint at Eswatini giants Mbabane Highlanders.
His last match at the Eswatini Premier League was a 2-1 loss in a derby against Mbabane Swallows on Saturday.
COACH SOLLY LUVHENGO RE-JOINS BLACK LEOPARDS
FARPost has now established that Luvhengo is set to be appointed as an assistant coach at Lidoda Duvha. As this publication has earlier reported, former captain Peter Mponda is set to take over on an interim basis.
They were both spotted at the club’s training ground in Polokwane alongside club president David Thidiela on Monday.
This is Luvhengo’s second stint at Leopards having spent a few months during the 2014/15 under then-coach Sean Connor.
His departure came as a shock to the football fraternity in Eswatini as he had been in charge of just one match into the new season.
The latest developments follow the resignation of coach Alejandro Dorado last week. The Spanish coach had only managed to collect one point in three matches.
Leopards, who made a return to the Motsepe Foundation Championship after purchasing the status of All Stars, have had a slow start to the season. The club recently signed former South Africa under-23 international Thendo Mukumela from AmaZulu FC.
HUGE TASK AHEAD FOR LIDODA DUVHA NEW TECHNICAL TEAM
They currently languish second from the bottom, above newcomers Milford FC. The latter also came into the league after purchasing the status of Uthongathi FC.
During their defeat by Magesi FC in the Limpopo derby this past weekend, Evans Nkoane and Thulani Moyo were in charge. Mponda and Luvhengo are expected to be on the bench when Leopards host Upington City at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday.
