Molefi Ntseki shares thoughts on Sibongiseni Mthethwa’s debut

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has voiced his thoughts on the display of the new signing Sibongiseni Mthethwa on his debut against Sekhukhune United.

Amakhosi came from a goal down to seal a 2-1 victory over Sekhukhune United in the DStv Premiership clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday.

The Soweto giants returned to winning ways after having not tasted a win in their previous four games before the clash against Sekhukhune.

Mthethwa, who signed for Chiefs last week from Stellenbosch FC, started on the bench as Ntseki chose to keep his midfield as it was in their previous game against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys started with Yusuf Maart, Edson Castillo and George Matlou. Mthethwa was brought on in the 64th minute for Castillo who had just scored the equaliser.

Ntseki commended the 29-year-old midfielder for his “tactical understanding” and leadership skills. And the former Bafana Bafana coach feels “Ox” boosted them with the balance that was much needed in the second half.

MOLEFI NTSEKI SAYS SIBONGISENI MTHETHWA GAVE THEM WHAT THEY NEEDED

“I think we all know the quality we have in Mthethwa. That is the main reason the club brought him to come and add value in terms of his qualities,” he said in the press conference.

“You can tell how talented he is, he is a leader on the pitch. He’s a fighter and very intelligent in terms of his tactical understanding.

“He came on today and gave us balance. He gave us what we needed especially after we realised that we needed some fresh legs. I think the overall performance of the players, they did well.”

Meanwhile, Chiefs are now fifth on the log standings having accumulated 11 points after eight games. They are next in action against Cape Town City on Tuesday, 3 October at Cape Town Stadium.
