Mamelodi Sundowns target lands in Spain for month-long trial

A teenager who recently underwent assessment at Mamelodi Sundowns’ feeder side M-Tigers is now in Spain for a month-long trial.

Mamelodi Sundowns in June ran the rule over teenage sensation Andile Zuma who won the Bayhill Premier Cup with Grassy Park United. He is scheduled for a second assessment at M Tigers. The team competes in the Gauteng division of the ABC Motsepe League.

The attacking midfielder was instrumental when Grassy Park beat Cape Town Spurs in the Under 19 tournament’s final at Athlone Stadium in April. He scored the winning goal in the semifinal against SuperSport United, sending the Cape Town side into the coveted final.

Zuma arrived in Malaga, Spain where Bigtime Sports Academy are set to assess him over a period of a month. As first reported by iDiski Times, the 19-year-old left Cape Town on Saturday and will be hoping to impress and start his career overseas.

Bigtime Sports is a football agency run by Ryan Hartslief, an ex-Fifa licensed agent. The academy assesses and carves a career path for amateur and professional football players around the world.

In addition, they advise on representation, arrange trials, get offers where possible, and provide advice on negotiating contracts. Bigtime also serves as a bridge for amateur players to be scouted, selected, and developed in various parts of the world.

In 2020, former South Africa youth international Tyroane Sandows joined Bigtime Sports. Within a week on trial, he was snapped up by Spanish second Division B Club Hercules Alicante.

Sandows is currently playing as a winger for Figueirense in the Série B. Zuma will be hoping to have a similar impact in Malaga.
