Ranga Chivaviro explains slow start at Chiefs

Ranga Chivaviro has explained his slow start at Kaizer Chiefs since joining the club from Marumo Gallants.

Chivaviro joined Amakhosi at the beginning of the 2023/24 PSL season on a two-year deal with an option to extend for a further one year from Gallants, who are now competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

So far, the 30-year-old forward has played six games across all competitions for the Soweto giants.

Unfortunately, Chivaviro is yet to find the back of the net in those six games he has featured for Chiefs.

Speaking ahead of their DStv Premiership clash against Cape Town City on Tuesday 03 October at FNB Stadium, the player stated that injuries have derailed his play at the Glamour Boys.

RANGA CHIVAVIRO ON HIS SLOW START

“I’m now alright. Obviously, I started slow because got stalled by a bit of injuries there and there,” said Chivaviro.

“But, I’m back now and fully fit. I’m just trying to work my way back into the team and add value to the big machine Kaizer Chiefs is.

“You know, I always try to strive to add value because there’s so much quality and value in this club. I’m happy that I’m back and I have joined the guys.”

Chivaviro had a successful season with Gallants last campaign, having scored 17 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions for Bahlabane ba Ntwa.

His satisfying displays helped Gallants to  reach the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup despite their relegation from the DStv Premiership.

The former Baroka FC man will be hoping to reciprocate what he did last season in Gallants colours and help Chiefs to challenge for major trophies.

Currently, Chiefs occupy the sixth position on the table with 11 points after eight games.

The game between Chiefs and Cape Town City will start at 19:30.
