Former Chiefs winger reviving career in the ABC Motsepe League
A former Marumo Gallants and Kaizer Chiefs winger has resurfaced at ABC Motsepe League club Sunrise FC in Limpopo, as he looks to revive his career.
Sunrise were recently promoted to the ABC Motsepe League. And they are gearing up for their first season in the third-tier league with the campaign yet to start.
Joseph Molangoane has been training with the club since last week having been clubless for almost two months. The 35-year-old parted ways with Marumo Gallants at the end of the previous season.
He took part in the club’s friendly at the Oscar Mpetha Stadium at Mankweng this past weekend and scored one goal as they eased past Star Sign FC.
The crafty midfielder has undergone a medical test and is hoping to secure a deal with Sunrise.
MOLANGOANE REVIVES CAREER AT ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE CLUB
“Joseph Molangoane is with us. He joined us recently in the pre-season, but he has not yet signed pending a medical report,” the club’s chairman Thabiso Moral Thobane told FARPost.
“He underwent medical yesterday [Monday]. We are currently waiting for the doctor’s report. And he has thus far played one game for us. He is okay and we will make sure he settles well with the team.”
Should the two parties strike a deal, the club will count on Molangoane, who comes with a wealth of experience from the top-flight.
Molangoane started his Premiership career at Platinum Stars in 2009 where he spent three years and a half before he moved to AmaZulu FC in KZN. He is one of the few players to have donned both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates shirts.
He also turned out for Chippa United, Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila, and Gallants. The Alexandra-born was part of the TTM side that won the Nedbank Cup in the 2020/21 season under Dylan Kerr’s leadership.
