Why Dan Malesela was not pleased after his first match
Newly appointed Baroka FC coach Dan Malesela has explained why he was not pleased after his first match in charge on Wednesday.
Malesela oversaw a 1-1 draw with Upington City in the Motsepe Foundation Championship just two days after he took over.
The 58-year-old is tasked with helping the Limpopo side back to the DStv Premiership. Despite the point, Baroka are now second from bottom with four points from their six matches.
WHY DAN MALESELA IS NOT PLEASED
Speaking after the match at the Global Village in Lebowakgomo, Malesela identified certain areas he was not pleased about.
“You know we can do better than what we displayed today. There is a bit of potential within the team that can lead us somewhere,” he said.
“We just have to adhere to certain rules of the game. As the game progresses, it dictates what you want to do. If you don’t respect those things sometimes, you end up faltering.
“Sometimes players will learn and learn the hard way if they are not careful at this stage. If the game says play one touchback, then play it because there is an opponent. The same thing happened to TS Galaxy over the weekend and we did the same thing here that we’re warning players about and then they score,” he added.
OPTIMISTIC AFTER GETTING A POINT IN HIS FIRST MATCH
“But, be that as it may, we need to have a bit of professionalism in terms of aggression because these boys come to our home ground and dictate how we must play.
“You can’t be selfish considering that I just started two days ago. You get a point, so you can’t just complain.”
Baroka are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Thohoyandou for an encounter against Venda FC.
