Maritzburg United claim back-to-back victories while Milford end winless run
Maritzburg United claimed two back-to-back victories in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after defeating Platinum City Rovers 1-0 at Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday while Milford FC ended their winless run.
The Team of Choice thrashed Venda Football Academy 5-1 on Wednesday at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium. The VFA coach Joel Masutha subsequently resigned from his position after a heavy defeat to Maritzburg United.
Elsewhere, Milford FC ended their winless run in the Championship after beating Casric Stars 2-0 at Giyani Stadium on Saturday.
Prior to winning against Casric Stars, Milford were winless in their opening six games of the season which saw them sack their coach Asanda Mvalo.
Milford suffered four losses in their four opening games of the season against Maritzburg United, Orbit College, University of Pretoria, and Marumo Gallants.
They played two successive draws against Pretoria Callies and Magesi before registering their first win against Stars.
ORBIT COLLEGE FC RETURN TO WINNING WAYS
Meanwhile, Orbit College returned to winning ways with an entertaining 3-2 victory over Marumo Gallants at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve on Saturday.
The North West-based outfit bounced back from their 1-0 loss against Hungry Lions on Tuesday at Windhoek Draught Park.
Orbit College is sitting at the summit of the NFD log with 16 points after winning five matches, drawing one, and losing another one in seven games played.
Mswenko Boys were promoted to the second tier from the ABC Motsepe League at the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
