Bafana duo hits good strides ahead of crucial friendlies

The Bafana Bafana duo of Percy Tau and Mihlali Mayambela hit good strides for their respective clubs ahead of two crucial international friendly matches.

How the two Bafana Bafana stars performed is certainly music to Hugo Broos’ ears, as he is beset with finding the right men for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the AFCON finals.

Bafana Bafana are set to take on Eswatini and Ivory Coast on the 13th and 17th of October, respectively.

For Hugo Broos, these matches are vital as they will help him come up with combinations for the team.

And with Percy Tau and Mihlali Mayambela hitting good strides on Sunday, the Belgian mentor expects the team to be exceptional in the two friendlies.

However, it has emerged that Percy Tau is unavailable for the two matches after excusing himself.

And FARPost has revealed that Kaizer Chiefs’ new signing, Mduduzi Mdantsane is the replacement.

HOW PERCY TAU AND MIHLALI MAYAMBELA PERFORMED

The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Percy Tau scored a brace as his side Al Ahly accounted for the scalp of Ismaily.

They won 3-1 in an Egyptian Premier League match on Sunday as Tau walked away with the Man of The Match award. 

The Lion of Judah has enjoyed a rich vein of form so far. He has four goals in two Egyptian Premier League matches, as he notched two braces.

On the other hand, the gangly Mihlali Mayambela put up a sterling show for Aris Limassol in Cyprus. He was on target as they recorded a second win on the trot, beating Anorthosis FC 3-2 on Sunday evening

He scored in the 12th minute, with goals from Yannick Gomis and Salvador Ferrer securing the all-important win. 

Chico Banza and Dimitrianos Juliou were on target for Anorthosis. Mayambela has now scored five goals in 15 matches in all competitions for Aris Limassol. For Bafana Bafana, he has two goals in five matches having made his debut in September 2022.
