Jamie Webber’s absence in Sekhukhune’s last three games explained

Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter has explained the absence of midfielder Jamie Webber in their last three games.

The coach was speaking after the 0-0 draw with Polokwane City in a DStv Premiership clash at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The goalless Limpopo derby affair failed to produce many talking points, as it did not live up to its expectations.

Webber has been phenomenal for Babina Noko since the start of the 2023/24 PSL season. So far, he has featured in nine games across all competitions for the Limpopo club.

To add to that, Webber has scored three goals and weighed in with two assists in the process. His stellar performances have earned him two DStv Premiership Man of the Match accolades thus far.

The talented midfield maestro joined Sekhukhune as a free agent after SuperSport United opted against renewing his contract.

He spent six campaigns with the Tshwane giants, having signed for SuperSport from Stellenbosch FC in the 2017/18 season.

BRANDON TRUTER ON JAMIE WEBBER

‘Brakkies’, as he’s popularly known has revealed why the 25-year-old footballer hasn’t been playing lately.

So far, Webber has missed the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round clash against FC Saint Eloi and two league matches when Sekhukhune played with Golden Arrows and most recently Polokwane City.

The last game Webber featured for Sekhukhune was when Babina Noko succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in a league match on Wednesday, 27 September 2023.

“He got injured in that game [Kaizer Chiefs game]. Remember we took him off,” said Truter.

“He suffered a fracture in the shoulder. Hopefully, we will have him back after the FIFA break.”

OTHER PLAYERS MISSING IN ACTION

Truter went on to give further updates on other players who are also out of the action.

“Siphesihle Mkhize is also not available due to Family bereavement. Tresor Tshibwabwa also picked up a hamstring injury,” he added.

“At this moment some players are playing with injuries and our squad depth is been destined.”
