Njabulo Blom on Lionel Messi’s impact on the MLS

Bafana Bafana star Njabulo Blom has shared his thoughts on Lionel Messi’s impact on the Major League Soccer [MLS]. 

In this beautiful game, there are a few names that are noteworthy and influential, and one of those names that top the list is Messi.

The Argentine captain joined the MLS side Inter Miami in July this year from Paris Saint-Germain [PSG].

Messi’s arrival in the MLS sparked the worldwide, as they thought the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner would go to his former club, Barcelona. 

It goes without a doubt that his move to the MLS has made an indelible mark in the United States’ top flight.

Kaizer Chiefs academy prodigy believes that Messi’s influence has been a powerful force for positive change in the MLS. 

“We all know that Messi is one of the best in the world,” said Blom. 

“We knew that when he moved to the MLS, the league would get a lot of attention and sponsors. 

“So, I think it’s been great having him because now the league is known and being noticed across the world, and taken seriously.”

The talented midfielder went on to reveal how he struggled in the USA upon his arrival and what it has been like working under South African coach Bradley Carnell at St Louis City. 

“To be honest, few months I struggled. But now, I think I have done so well. I have been adopting pretty well,” he added. 

BLOM ON WORKING UNDER BRADLEY CARNELL 

“I think he’s a demanding coach to be quite honest. He’s a coach who always wants his players to improve at the training. 

“I think it’s been great to work under him as a coach and a leader,” explained the 23-year-old footballer.
